Welcome to my site!

Here you will find my thinking behind the lens.

I always knew I had a passion for photography. It’s my own personal art and passion. Since picking up my first Sony a390 DSLR camera, I knew this is what I wanted to do in my life. Since graduating from the University of Northampton in 2017, I have been working as freelance photographer growing in abilities and experience within a variety of genres of photography. As well as a passion for art, I have always had a passion for sports photography and so during my studies and beyond have made every effort to pursue this passion. Now I primarily work as a sports photographer freelancing for a number of agencies including The Association Press and MI News and Sport. Not only am I looking at the action on the field but what is happening in my surroundings to help document in a creative yet photojournalistic style. This has allowed me to develop as a photographer in a number of varieties in photography including location portraiture to street, utilising the surrounding natural or artificial lights in order to capture my subjects.

I am now creating this blog site in order to document my progress, not only as a self-help guide to myself but for others in order to show my thinking behind the lens in a variety of genres and hopefully, it will make for some interesting reading as well as some beautiful images.

Photography is a creative art form which I am still exploring today by constantly pushing myself and my camera.

Equipment List

For my equipment, I primarily use the professional range of Canon gear.

As I work in a variety of genres of photography from sports to photojournalism, street, studio, still life, macro, music, portraiture, weddings, music, urban and rural landscape and wildlife, the professional range of Canon DSLR cameras and lenses allows me the speed and versatility to create stunning imagery as well as allowing me to take my creativity further.

I love the colours that Canon can create in raw and jpeg without the heavy post processing in order to emphasise the colours, the ease of use and the wide dynamic range in order to retain that natural-looking detail as well as the extreme contrast in low light.

The 1dx ii allows for versatility in sports, news, wildlife, and weddings with its fast processing and sharp results. The 5d iv allows for incredible detail and sharpness in low light as well as studio portraiture. The results are beautiful!
